Bridge Over Troubled Water Produced by Jeff Engholm, the concert features the Twin Cities premiere of “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” a live album recreation of Simon & Garfunkel’s legendary 1970’s release. The group’s first “Bridge Over Troubled Water” concert played to sell-out crowds and rave reviews in St. Cloud. Using strings, horn and band, Collective Unconscious will perform the hit songs “Cecilia,” “The Boxer,” “El Condor Pasa” and the immortal title track. Opening the show will be individual performances by well-known artists Mary Jane Alm, Ann Michaels and Prudence Johnson.
St. Joan of Arc’s gymnasium at 4537 Third Avenue South is the concert venue. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased in advance using the link below or at the door. A cash bar will open at 6:30 pm, with the performance at 7 pm.
The concert benefits the Peace Island Conference: Hope in a Time of Crisis to be held September 2-3 at Concordia University. The non-partisan, solutions-driven conference is scheduled during the Republican National Convention in St. Paul. Nationally-known speakers will address current issues of peace, justice and the environment at the conference. It is sponsored by the Minnesota Alliance of Peacemakers, a non-partisan coalition of 73 local advocacy organizations. For additional information, see www.peaceisland.us
“There’s great harmony between our conference theme of ‘hope in a time of crisis’ and the concert title, ‘bridge over troubled water’,” says concert committee coordinator Ann Lewis. “We anticipate a terrific evening of music and spoken word with these outstanding actors and jazz musicians who will blend their talents for the Peace Island conference Benefit."
