Nellie Jo David: When Borders Cross O’odham: Indigenous Resistance to Occupation from Turtle Island to Palestine
Nellie Jo David has a law degree and is an organizer focusing on indigenous human rights and autonomy on the imposed U.S./Mexico borderlands intersecting her own Tohono O’odham Nation. Nellie has witnessed the increased militarization of her border community, Ajo, Arizona, and dedicates her work to migrant justice & protection of indigenous peoples’ rights, the land and wildlife. Her 2017 experience in Occupied Palestine echoed the cruel nature of walls and checkpoints to oppress and destroy human lives.
