The Solidarity Committee on the Americas Committee of Women Against Military Madness invites you to attend our March Coffee Hour on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 9:30 am until 11:30 am at 4200 Cedar Avenue S in Minneapolis. Speakers include: Laura Flynn: was assistant to Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide from 1994–1999; Director of International Relations for the Aristide Foundation for Democracy in Haiti; and editor of “Eyes of the Heart: Seeking a Path for the Poor in the Age of Globalization” by Jean-Bertrand Aristide Pierre LaBossiere, Haiti Action Committee (via Skype). The Haiti Action Committee is a Bay-Area based network of activists who have supported the Haitian struggle for democracy since 1991. They published a report on the LaSaline massacre. Pierre LaBossiere is Haitian, an activist, and a co-founder of Haiti Action Committee. He speaks about the present situation in Haiti. Ruben Joanem is a Haitian immigrant to Minnesota and is an advocate for the Haitian people. He makes frequent trips to Haiti to bring humanitarian aid and medical supplies. He is an active member of the Haiti Justice Committee of Minnesota. The coffee hour is co-sponsored by the Haiti Justice Committee of Minnesota. The event will be moderated by April Knutson who is active with the Haiti Justice Committee.
